Does the SkyDSLR system include a camera?
The SkyDSLR system does not include a camera. The system is compatible with popular Canon, Nikon and Hasselblad camera models. Refer to the camera compatibility list for the most current information.
What other equipment do I need to buy to use the SkyDSLR system?
A laptop, camera and lens, and camera control software, which typically comes with the compatible cameras.
What regulatory agencies have approved the use of the SkyDSLR system?
The SkyDSLR System is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transport Canada, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Australia Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Mexico.

Does the SkyDSLR System need to be installed by an Aviation Maintenance Professional (AMP)?
No. But we strongly recommend you have an AMP install the system. An AMP must sign off on the installation of the system before the aircraft is approved for operation.
I want to take vertical photos in both landscape and portrait mode. Which SkyDSLR system should I buy?
Purchase the SkyDSLR Vertical System (VPS-100) and add-on the SkyDSLR Vertical Module (VLS-100).
How do I control the camera while I am flying the plane?
You control the camera settings (i.e., shutter speed and aperture) from your laptop computer with the software provided with the camera.
Can I take photos and video with the SkyDSLR Systems?
Yes. All of the compatible Nikon, Canon, & Hasselblad DSLR cameras can capture video in 720 or 1080p depending on the camera.
How much video can I capture with the SkyDSLR Systems?
With a 720p camera, you can capture around 2hrs of video with a 16GB memory card. With a 1080p camera, you can capture 1-1.5hrs of video with a 16GB memory card.
How much does the SkyDSLR System weigh?
ith the camera and lens, the SkyDsLR System weighs about 7 pounds.
How long does it take to install the SkyDSLR System?
The initial installation takes less than 3 hours. The SkyDSLR System is designed to be easily uninstalled. Subsequent installations take less than 20 minutes.
Does the SkyDSLR System come with everything I need to install it on the underbelly of my plane?
No. The belly mount requires more tools to install. For example, you need a drill with a woodcutting drill bit to cut a hole in the belly that does not come with the system.
Can I use the SkyDSLR System on a helicopter?
Yes. Meeker Aviation manufactures a number of STC FAA-approved helicopter mounts that can be used with the SkyDSLR System.
Can I use the SkyDSLR System on my experimental plane?
Yes. Experimental aircraft modifications require no FAA approval.
